The dealer was very impressed to see the Kerry lads from Dairymaster entertaining European Commissioner for Agriculture Phil Hogan and his entourage down in Causeway.

The Commissioner got a tour of the impressive Dairymaster facility which now spans to over 10 acres of warehousing and concrete.

I understand the Dairymaster lads are almost in Europe as much as Phil given the fact that they are exporting the majority of their equipment to Europe and beyond.

The last time The Dealer got a spin around Causeway, there was more parlours packed for Russia than Cork.

Opportunities

Commissioner Hogan visited Dairymaster to discuss some of the opportunities and challenges facing the dairy industry across Europe over the next 10 years and to see some of the innovations at first hand.

Commissioner Hogan said: “Efficiency, sustainability and food safety is key for the future and new technology will be very important. I am delighted to see Dairymaster playing a leading role in this regard globally.”

The Dealer didn’t see any sign of fellow MEP and Kerry resident the honourable Sean Kelly, but I’ve no doubt the Commissioner was well looked after and that Sean wasn’t far behind.
