Blaney Group was established in Ballymena, Co Antrim, in 1993, and has expanded considerably with local design, innovation and manufacturing. It is a significant employer in the local community, with 50 staff across its six brands, which include Quad-X, Blaney Agri, Blaney Gears and the newly launched Blaney Motor.

To coincide with the launch of Blaney Motor, the company recently launched two concept models. The first is the L1 10-27, which is a compact wheeled loader with a lifting capacity of one tonne and a reach of 2.7m. It is powered by a 40hp engine coupled to a hydrostatic transmission with four-wheel-drive limited slip differential.

The other concept machine is the TH1 15-48; this is a compact telehandler with a lifting capacity of 1.5 tonnes and a reach of 4.8m. It is powered by a 50hp engine that uses a hydrostatic transmission and has four-wheel-drive lockable differential if required.

Multipurpose loaders

These new multipurpose wheeled loaders are specifically designed to be compact for both manoeuvrability and mobility. Their size enables them to access hard-to-reach areas while their weight means they can be transported under 3.5 tonnes, so they can be towed by suitable commercial vehicles.

These two loaders are primarily aimed at customers who are involved in farming, plant hire, construction, equestrian, landscaping, amenities, road works and self-build construction.

Alison Duncan, dealer development manager at Blaney, tell us they are excited by the opportunities these new machines offer the industry.

“We have identified a number of requirements from operators in the construction, agricultural, landscaping, and plant hire industries,” she said.

“These requirements centre around a range of smaller wheeled loaders that are compact yet powerful, efficient and reliable. The machines we wish to develop will have a specific focus on the under-two-tonne lift capacity.”

As with all products and machines from the Blaney Group, including the Quad-X range of ATV equipment and the Blaney Agri tractor attachments, the Blaney Motor range is designed, developed and manufactured in Antrim. The Blaney development team have been working closely with a range of Irish farmers, contractors, machinery dealers and plant hire companies to ensure the new Blaney wheeled loaders not only meet but exceed expectations.

With Blaney’s existing experience in the attachment sector, the company will offer a wide range of attachments that are multipurpose and versatile for the compact loaders. Blaney also intends to focus on more niche attachments, such as mowers and side discharge cement mixers, as these machines will suit a wide range of applications and offer complete solutions to various customers in different industries.

Following the public launch of the Blaney Motor concept wheeled loaders at the Balmoral Show, Blaney Motor is taking to the road this month with a series of field days. This will see the new Blaney L1 10-27 pivot steer model put through its paces. Events will take place each day from Monday 25 July to Friday 29 July.

Sean Blaney, MD of Blaney Motor, is delighted to have the opportunity to travel around Ireland showcasing Blaney Motor’s new compact loaders at these field days.

“We are committed to building quality engineering and I am looking forward to getting feedback from new customers and partners that our engineering team can use to help further develop our range of machines,” he said.

Further development

Over the next few months, the Blaney Motor team are keen to discuss the loaders with end users to further tailor the machines to suit individual needs and applications. Blaney Motor company is also currently developing a network of dealers in Ireland to represent the brand and the growing range of machines.

These compact loaders are set to go into full production in the autumn with prices estimated to be in the region of £20,000 to £30,000, depending on spec. Further specific information on the range will be available ahead of the product launch.
