The board of Glanbia decided to hold its milk price for July milk supplies. Glanbia suppliers will receive 30.36c/l excluding VAT for milk supplied in July, at 3.6% butterfat and 3.3% protein. Its board met on Monday and decided to hold its milk price.

Glanbia Ireland (GI) has maintained its base milk price for July at 29.41c/l excluding VAT. Glanbia Co-op will make a support payment to members of 1c/l including VAT.

The Glanbia Ireland base price and the co-op support payment will be adjusted to reflect the actual constituents of milk delivered by suppliers.

Lakeland

Meanwhile, Lakeland Dairies has increased its base milk price by 1 cent per litre to 31.1c/l excluding VAT for July milk supplies.

This is to recognise the difficult conditions being experienced by dairy farmers, it said.

Lakeland has also introduced a €20/t discount on every tonne of fertiliser bought by milk suppliers and shareholders, effective from 1 August to the end of the fertiliser spread season.

Milk league

All six processors in the bottom half of the Irish Farmers Journal milk league last month lifted milk price for June. The rest held the same. Some of the processors have termed the lift a drought bonus – others just lifted the base price.

Supply

Glanbia estimated that the volume of milk supplied in July was back by about 2%, while Lakeland reported a significant increase.
