Brazil – beef exports soar

Brazilian beef exports continue to soar. For July, Brazilian exporters shipped a phenomenal 129,000t of beef to world markets. This brings Brazilian beef exports for the first seven months of 2019 (Jan-Jul) to 808,000t, which is 22% ahead of the same period last year.

Australia – beef exports rise in July

Australian beef exports for July stood at 115,000t, which is 9% ahead of the same month last year. For the first seven months of 2019 (Jan-Jul), Australian beef exports are up 7% year on year at 685,000t. Japan, USA and China account for almost 70% of Australian beef exports.

France – bumper wheat harvest looks likely

France looks set to produce its second-largest wheat harvest on record this season. The French ministry for agriculture this week raised its forecast for French wheat production in 2019 to 38.2m tonnes. It also raised its barley forecast to 13.4m tonnes.

US – Trump agrees beef quota with EU

US president Donald Trump last week agreed a deal with the European Commission to sell more American beef into Europe. The deal will see the US have tax-free access for 35,000t of beef per year by 2026. The EU insists the beef will be hormone-free in accordance with EU standards.
