Germany – milk production rises

After several months of decline, German milk production returned to growth in September. Milk collections from German dairy farms totalled 2.5bn litres in September, which is up 1.3% on last year. This brings German milk production for the first nine months of 2019 to 23.8bn litres.

Uruguay – beef exports to China soar

In October, beef exporters in Uruguay shipped more than 26,350t of beef to world markets. Of this total, more than 75%, or just under 20,000t, was shipped to buyers in China. In the first 10 months of 2019, Uruguay has exported more than 277,000t of beef, with 147,000t of this going to China.

Australia – wheat harvest could be lowest in decades

Australia’s wheat harvest this season could be less than 16m tonnes after drought conditions ravaged the country. If realised, this wheat harvest would be much lower than last year’s wheat crop of 17.3m tonnes, which was the lowest wheat production in Australia in 12 years.

Canada – meat exports to Chine set to resume

Canadian beef and pork exports to China are set to resume following a diplomatic dispute between both countries. China is the third-largest export market for Canadian pork and the fifth-largest export market for its beef.
