Brazil – beef exports to China slow

Brazilian beef exports to China for the month of September slowed to their lowest volume since April. For September, Brazil exported almost 71,000t of frozen beef to China. This brings Brazilian beef exports to China alone to a cumulative 600,000t of beef, which is up 140% year on year.

US – beef exports rise in August

US beef exports for the month of August stood at just under 90,000t, which was up 3.5% on the same month last year thanks to strong demand from Taiwan and South Korea. This brings US beef exports for the first eight months of 2020 to a cumulative 627,250t, which is down 6% year on year.

France – crop production estimates reduced

Grain market analysts have reduced their forecast for wheat production in France this year to a new estimate of just over 29m tonnes. The forecast for French maize (corn) production in 2020 has also been revised downwards to 13.5m tonnes.

Australia – wheat harvest forecast at 29m tonnes

The USDA has maintained its forecast that Australian tillage farmers will produce just under 29m tonnes of wheat this year. The Australian ministry for agriculture is forecasting the country’s wheat harvest will be closer to 30m tonnes this year.
