25 August: Based on the Algiers Motel Incident during Detroit’s 1967 12th Street Riot, Detroit is being released to commemorate the 50th anniversary of this tragedy where three teenage civilians, all of them black, were beaten and killed by police. Nine others, seven black males and two white females, were badly beaten by members of a riot task force. It stars John Boyega, Will Poulter, Algee Smith, Jason Mitchell, John Kransinski and Anthony Mackie.

28 August: Taking place at Tralee’s Siamsa Tíre (Ireland’s National Folk Theatre), Oileán will run until the end of August. The show depicts the traditions and culture of the community that once called the Blasket Islands off the coast of west Kerry home. 25 August: Playing his final of four shows at the INEC Killarney this summer, one of Ireland’s most loved and recognised singers, Dickie Rock, is ready to get fans dancing the night away.
