Tipperary farmer and MEP candidate Liam Minehan, clearly has a good degree of grass-roots support with very public campaign effort carved into a local field.

Minehan's name has been cut out of a field of grass in his hometown of Knigh, Co Tipperary.

The farmer himself is known locally for his "Fight the Pipe" campaign, which was aimed at preventing Irish Water from running a water pipe through local farmland to Dublin.

He's running on a promise to stop the "to hell or to Dublin" policy.

Voting takes place on this Friday and he's hoping farmers will take a break from making silage in the fine weather to visit a polling booth.
