Positive response to Patrick Kavanagh-inspired song

The poetry of Patrick Kavanagh provides the inspiration for the new song from Damian Davis. The Inniskeen-born poet penned his famous lines “O stony grey soil of Monaghan, You burgled my bank of youth!” a poem that has endured down the decades.

The Stony Clay is the title of Damian’s new release and was written by his brother Craig Davis and has roots in the reflective description of Monaghan by Patrick Kavanagh in his classic poem.

Damian, who lives in Oram, Castleblayney, was a finalist in Glór Tíre on TG4 last season and delighted with the new song.

“We are getting a great response to it and people are warming in a big way to the upbeat and positive nature of the song. A lot of people have been so supportive of me since I was on Glór Tíre and I am looking forward to meeting lots of them at various shows and concert spots around the country in the months ahead,” says Damian.
