Hereford bulls led the trade at the spring sale of native beef breeds in Dungannon Mart on Tuesday. Nine Hereford bulls were forwarded, and all lots sold to an average of £3,477.

Topping the trade at 5,500gns, and setting a new record price for a Hereford bull at a sale in NI, was Graceland 1 Silas, a June 2019 born offering from Robin Irvine, Whitecross.

Purchased by AI Services, Silas was sired by Blakesley 1 Nathan out of the home bred Graceland 1 Lydia.

Second highest price of 4,300gns went to Roy and Pat McClenaghan, Holywood for Brookfield 1 Teddy.


Aberdeen Angus bulls sold to a top price of 5,100gn for Birches Bellboy V916 from Sam Matchett, Portadown.

This May 2019-born animal was sired by Cheeklaw Emlyn and out of the dam, Birches Bell.

This was followed by 4,800gn for Drumhill Lord Highway V271 from Jonathan and Lisa Doyle, Cookstown. Fourteen Angus bulls old to an average of £3,097.
