There is a high risk of fluke in western Scotland this autumn, according the National Animal Disease Information Service (NADIS) fluke-risk forecast. There is also a “medium risk” in Eastern Scotland.

The forecast is based on cumulative wetness scores using data from the Met Office.

The situation may change, depending on rainfall during September and October.

In “high-risk” areas, grazing cattle may need to be dosed for fluke with a product with activity against immature fluke

Parasitic gastroenteritis is likely to be a problem in sheep on contaminated grazing in many areas also.
