The Joint Oireachtas Committee on Agriculture and the EU committee will hear from the Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development Phil Hogan today.

The chair of the agriculture committee, Pat Deering, said that today’s meeting “will be a wide-ranging one, which will allow for discussion on a range of important issues. Brexit will form a large part of the discussion, as will price volatility in markets/emerging market supports”.

Meanwhile, the EU committee will cover the most recent State of the Union address.

“The wide-ranging address from President Juncker aimed to underpin the values of the European Union and committee members will now look to explore the specifics further with Commissioner Hogan, including the proposals for investing in youth, an investment plan for Africa and proposals for a European border and coastguard authority,” said chair of the committee, Michael Healy-Rae.
