Irish success at Chatsworth

Irish event riders certainly showed their class at Chatsworth International Horse Trials.

The event hosted the first leg of the Event Rider Masters (ERM) Series along with other international classes.

Meath-based Sarah Ennis finished second in the ERM class riding Horseware Stellor Rebound (ISH).

Kildare-based rider Cathal Daniels won two of the three CIC3* divisions at the English event.

Daniels was successful at underage levels, however, this was his first win at CIC3* level so to record two wins in one day was a great achievement for the 21-year-old.

Daniels landed the Section B riding Margaret Kinsella’s home-bred 11-year-old mare Rioghan Rua. Kinsella also owns the nine-year-old gelding Sammy Davis Junior, who claimed victory in Section C.

The ERM series is in its second year, running over six international events in Britian and Europe.

The series is unique to the sport and offers record prize money, including £30,000 to the series winner.
