Weather forecast

According to Met Éireann, it will be a cloudy morning in most areas except for the east, where clear spells will mean a sunny but very cold start. Although it will be a largely dry day with most areas becoming sunny, there is a risk of isolated light showers during the afternoon. Winds will be light easterly and temperatures this afternoon will reach between 11°C and 13°C.

Although it will be dry tonight, it will turn cold under clear skies with temperatures expected to fall to between 1°C and 4°C. A grass frost is likely to return away from coasts, and mist and fog patches will form again. Winds will be light, east to northeast.

Rainfall for the past week has been less than 10% of average, Met Éireann says, and the forecast rainfall totals remain very low, less than 8mm for the bulk of the country. Drying conditions on farms will continue to be good and the settled weather is ideal for spraying.
