The Food and Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has issued a recall for a range of fresh spinach products following the detection of listeria monocytogenes.

Some bags of spinach leaves sold under the Dunnes Stores and Aldi own brands, the Oaklands brand at Lidl and the McCormack brand elsewhere should not be consumed. The same applies to some bags of mixed leaves sold under the Dunnes Stores brand; the Egan's brand at Aldi; and the McCormack brand in other stores including Tesco and Supervalu. Details of the packs to be discarded are available from the FSAI website.

"Retailers are advising customers to dispose of the packs. Some spinach products distributed to caterers are also implicated," the FSAI said.

The spinach involved was grown in Ireland.
