A shortage of lactating cow tubes has been reported in the UK and Ireland, affecting both Synulox and Multi-ject tubes.

A spokesperson for Zoetis, the brand behind Synulox, said it has a delivery ready for distribution this week with another large delivery expected in mid-January 2021.

It confirmed that the shortage had been related to an issue with sourcing active ingredients.

Another spokesperson for Norbrook said that the shortage of Multi-ject tubes was similar to the situation in the UK, where supplies were expected to return to normal by February.

Lactating cow tubes are usually used to treat mastitis and most in demand after the spring calving, in both dairy and beef herds.
