He was still a young teenager and had been given his first big break by Gerry Flynn and Dermot Hegarty of Enjoy Travel.

“I can never forget that week,” says Nathan. “It was such a huge occasion for me out on that famous island off the Spanish coast with around 1,000 other folk from Ireland and the UK. It was a magic time and was a central moment in my whole career.”

While Nathan has truly hit the big time in the last four years, with a few number one albums in the Irish charts and huge crowds at his concerts, he has never forgotten the people who gave him the break that changed his life.

“In the first week of October, I go back to Benalmadena on the Costa Del Sol in Spain for my second Carter on the Costa week of music, dance and song. The Enjoy Travel team are organising it all for me again and I am glad they are on board and as enthusiastic as ever. It is completely sold out at this stage,” says Nathan.

Recognition

The Liverpool-born singer has received four nominations for the inaugural RTÉ Irish Country Music Awards show, in association with the Irish Farmers Journal. They are for entertainer of the year, best male artist, best live act, and album of the year.

“I was deeply honoured to have been nominated, which is recognition in itself. Like so many others, I am eagerly looking forward to the big night in RTÉ on 24 June. So many of our friends and followers have been enthusiastically spreading the news about this night, which is a great endorsement of country music here in Ireland,” reflects Nathan.
