News on the jobs front makes for some grim reading at the moment. Last week, the Department of Social Protection said that over 500,000 people had received the pandemic unemployment payment. The ESRI forecast that 600,000 jobs could be lost.

That said, a huge number of people responded to Ireland’s call for healthcare help. The HSE has created a database of people that are available to take up temporary contracts for sick cover and a similar initiative has been rolled out by Nursing Homes Ireland (NHI).
