The third week of an oral hearing into the South Kerry Greenway has been rescheduled for November.

The proposed 32km route from Glenbeigh to Renard comprises 222 plots of land owned by 197 land owners.

The use of CPOs to acquire the land required has led to objections from local land owners and he IFA.

Kerry County Council is denying it had decided on the greenway route prior to meeting landowners.

Objecting

The IFA is objecting on four grounds: it believes Kerry County Council didn’t follow all legal requirements; the proposal contravenes assurances given that a CPO wouldn’t be used; the development contravenes policy on the future planning of greenways; and the environmental reports are incomplete.

The third week of the hearing is expected to start on Tuesday, 12 November in Tralee.
