Kerry Group has offloaded its chilled savoury pastry business for an undisclosed sum to Pork Farms Ltd, a UK-based manufacturer of pork pies and quiches. Pork Farms will incorporate the pastry business’ existing UK facilities in Poole and Spalding into the company.

The sale of the business comes as Kerry continues to restructure its consumer foods division, which has struggled in recent years due to weak consumer demand and intense retail competition.

Earlier this year, Kerry CEO Stan McCarthy said the consumer is now more in control and is prioritising spending and Kerry has been realigning its business portfolio to this changed environment. In April this year, Kerry offloaded its Freshways business as part of a management buyout. Consumer Foods recorded half-year revenues of €801m.
