The Southern Simmental Club autumn calf finals were once again staged at Barryroe Show. Elaine Hennelly was on hand in the ring to judge proceedings, with this year’s finals sponsored by Dairygold.

The day kicked off with the yearling bull championship. The Cotter family from Dripsey came up trumps with their bull Dripsey King of Hearts. This bull was sired by the renowned Kilbride Farm Delboy.

Not stopping there, King of Hearts went on to claim the overall Simmental championship and the reserve interbreed calf champion of the show title.

In the yearling heifer championship, Dermody Kenzie came up trumps. Bred and owned by Noel and Keith Jagoe, this Samark Superman daughter is out of homebred dam Dermody Honey.

Adding to this success, Hennelly then tapped Kenzie out as reserve Simmental champion of the show.

In the weanling bull championship, Keith and Luke Vickery claimed the honours with their Curaheen Tyson-sired bull Carbery K Cilla’s Ebony.

This October 2018-born calf is out of Omorga Cilla.

Continuing their success, the Vickerys also had the day’s weanling heifer champion in the form of Carbery Karina. This heifer was again sired by the aforementioned Curaheen Tyson.
