The two collection points are due to open around 1pm and will add to the existing ones in Bailieboro and Killeshandra, Co Cavan.

A spokesperson for the co-op said it has now sourced up to 2,500 bales of fodder from Ireland (North and South) and the UK. Some 1,000 of these are already in stock and currently being distributed, the majority of which are silage, followed by haylage and hay.

"This is being delivered at cost to farms and is now also being made available from the four depots to ensure the maximum level of support for milk suppliers," the spokesperson said. The co-op did not provide a price list for the fodder but insisted it applied no markup on the sourcing cost.

Lakeland milk suppliers can contact the co-op's fodder helpline on 042-969 4341, member relations on 1890-47 47 20, or their Lakeland Agri representative for further information.
