Macra na Feirme, supported by FBD Trust and other industry stakeholders, operates a service that helps farmers and landowners explore their options and facilitate agreements.

  • Macra na Feirme, supported by FBD Trust and other industry stakeholders, operates a service that helps farmers and landowners explore their options and facilitate compatible farmers to enter into mutually beneficial arrangements.

    The service is managed by Austin Finn, who has significant farming and business experience. Austin holds an agricultural science degree and is also a chartered accountant. He can be contacted at 086-254 1425 or or

    The purpose of the service is to facilitate collaborative arrangements tailored to suit any specific situation. These arrangements can be as simple or as complex as desired, provided they are workable for all parties involved. Arrangements can be within or outside the family.

    For an arrangement to work, it will need to deliver to all parties, considerations include:

  • Income security and enhancement.
  • Protection of assets and EU entitlements.
  • The land to be farmed.
  • Quality of life and social benefits.
  • Tax efficiency.
  • The service is 100% confidential and Austin acts as an expert independent facilitator, fully respecting all parties. His only agenda is to find a workable arrangement that will satisfy the needs of all parties.

    Collaboration has multiple social and financial benefits, and is an excellent way to facilitate expansion, scaling back or switching enterprise.
