DEAR SIR:

I would like to see the beef farmers receiving the compensation of €100m because these are the men with the most empty bags at home who fed cattle at a loss. By doing this it will encourage them back to the mart rings for the autumn trade and some of the money will find its way to other farmers. I have a verse here that best describes a beef farmer.

Beef farmers were the willing

Led by the unknown

Doing the unnecessary

For the ungrateful

They have fed so many

For so little

That they are now fully qualified

To get something for nothing.
