DEAR SIR

As a cereal grower of a long-time duration, I wish to make a comment on your article about the chemical Chlorothalonil used under the trade name Bravo. There is an implication in your article that this chemical controls Septoria. As things stand at the moment there is no fungicide that can fully control Septoria in wheat. The control of Ramularia in barley is its best use. The use of and proper development of fungicides must run hand-in-hand with better crop breeding to favour the producer not ending up at the moment as a gravy-train for the chemical companies.
