DEAR SIR: I agree with last week’s editorial in the Irish Farmers Journal about dairy breeding drawing a balance between what the dairy farmer needs and what beef farmers need. It is critical that Friesian bull calves are saleable into the beef herd. Also, Aidan Brennan made a good point when saying that it is risky to be building a dairy business based on exporting calves.
