I write concerning our disappointment at the content of a recent advertisement carried in the Irish Farmers Journal on 13 June last.

The dairy advice from Teagasc specifically recommended the feeding of meals during the difficulties imposed by the drought – but only stated imported feed ingredients.

Surely the open recommendation of such products challenges the reputation of the sector as being grass-fed and ‘Irish’.

While there can be no question as to the validity of the advice to supplement grass when it is scarce, to only recommend imported feeds is not in our nation’s best interests.
