Limousin bulls sold for up to 6,000gns at the spring show and sale in Dungannon Mart on Monday of this week. The top-priced bull was bred by J B O’Kane, Coleraine, and selected as intermediate male champion prior to the sale.

Born in August 2016, Gleneagle Master is an embryo calf sired by Sympa and is in the top 10% of the breed for beef value.

The second highest-priced bull came from the same herd, and sold for 4,800gns, having been awarded supreme and junior male champion.

A total of 20 bulls sold to an average of £2,855, with six females selling to an average £1,917.

Angus

On Tuesday of this week at the same venue, Angus bulls sold to a top price of 5,000gns, paid for Kiltariff Deacon bred by David Bready, Rathfriland, and sired by Netherton Americano.

The same breeder sold a second bull to 3,400gns. The supreme champion was Drumhill Lord Hansome bred by Jonathan Doyle from Cookstown, and later sold for 4,600gns. A total of 11 bulls sold to an average of £3,646.

Hereford

Following the Angus sale, twelve Hereford bulls sold to an average £2,555, with the top price of 3,000gns being paid on three separate occasions, once to Lawrence Moore from Aughnacloy for his supreme champion, and twice to Robin Irvine from Whitecross.
