Farmers For Action (FFA) in NI, has expressed concern about the growing popularity of veganism, and the consequences for young people who need natural nutrients such as calcium and iron in their growing years.

As a result, the farm lobby organisation has written to the Vegan Society asking that they put forward all of the facts, not just a selected few to suit their propaganda.

In particular, FFA has asked that the Society explain why its promotions do not highlight just how many worms and soil microbes lose their lives during soil preparation to grow the vegetables a vegan requires.

“Will your advertising in future, and definition of veganism, clearly state in equal size print that worms and soil microbes will die in the process of growing the vegetables required for veganism?” states the FFA letter.
