Co Wicklow teenager Kendal Moody was the winner of Wednesday’s Ploughing for Stars final after she blew the crowd away singing God Bless the Broken Road by Rascal Flatts. Her prize is getting to sing with Mike Denver at one of his gigs.

At just 16 years old, Kendal beat off stiff competition from her fellow finalists at the competition held in the Irish Farmers Journal stand today 18 September Wednesday.

Kendal dedicated the performance to her step-grandfather who loved to attend the Ploughing each year and fostered her love of music.

Difficult decision

Michelle Murphy from Co Wexford singing Our House is a Home and Peter Hoey from Co Roscommon’s rendition of Come My Little Son, made the decision very difficult for the judges, but ultimately it was Kendal who come out on top.

Ollie Hennessy, Kendal Moody and Amii McKeever.

The judges faced with making the decision on the day were Eoin O’Donnell of the Irish Farmers Journal; Deirdre O’Shea of Agri-Aware and country musician Michael Golden.

Ploughing for Stars also took place yesterday (Tuesday) when Keelan Greaney won out with his version of Three Wooden Crosses.

Musical director of The Rose of Tralee Ollie Hennessey was on hand to provide assistance both days.
