UCD’s new €3m ag-tech innovation centre located in Lyons Farm, Co Kildare, is on track to open in 2022.

The centre will bring together Ireland’s wider ag-tech community and help with the launching and scaling of ag-tech companies by providing access to on-farm research collaboration opportunities, as well as a location to test and trial their products and services.

Director of the ag-tech innovation centre, Antoine Pajot was speaking at this week’s Ludgate Future of Farming webinar and said the centre will “be the place to be” if you are passionate about agriculture.

Bottom-up

As well as tech entrepreneurs and innovators, he said farmers are more than welcome to access the facility centre will promote “bottom-up” innovation.

The centre will have lab facilities, on-farm testing capabilities and incubation spaces for start-up as well as host training, mentoring and networking sessions.

The new ag-tech project will be led by NovaUCD and developed in collaboration with AIB, Kildare County Council and Kildare LEO as well as several agri-companies and investors including, Devenish, Dairymaster, Glanbia, Finistere, The Yield Lab and Atlantic Bridge.
