It has been a tough month on secretaries. First, the Irish Limouisn Cattle Society's secretary stepped down, and now, come 12 January 2021, Tullamore Show will also be without a secretary.

Freda Kinnarney made the announcement of her resignation on a Zoom meeting of the executive committee on Tuesday night. Having been involved in some form since the show started in 1991, Freda was then made secretary in 1997. As the show grew in stature, her number of job titles increased and she now leaves as official company secretary and operations manager.

Massive growth

From humble beginnings, the show has grown to what is widely regarded as the best show in the country. No small part of this, Freda’s team now extends to two full-time staff, college placement students, 30 executive committee members and over 500 volunteers. Tullamore Show however has not being without its lows, with 2020 the fourth show cancelled since its establishment.
