Lisdoonvarna is one of the most famous small towns in Ireland. Every September, thousands flock to the Clare town from all over Ireland and abroad.

Last September, the celebrations were made extra special after Clare won the All-Ireland hurling final. One thing is for certain, they sure know how to celebrate in the Banner County.

This Easter, Lisdoonvarna is set to go all country as it plays host to a major Garth Brooks Easter music festival.

Jason Hughes from Tyrone, billed as Ireland’s answer to the American country superstar, and his band will be in town for the weekend. Their GB Tribute Show is going down a treat wherever they stage it and they will form the centre-piece of what promises to be a special weekend in Co Clare.

Songs like Friends In Low Places, If Tomorrow Never Comes, The River, Unanswered Prayers and many others will be all the rage when the party-goers get into the mood at the GB Rally.

The Hydro and Imperial Hotels will play host to all the shows and dances, with the event being staged from Friday, 18 April, to Monday, 21 April.

James Cafferty from Showtours, who are promoting the event, says that they are all looking forward to providing top-class entertainment at the best value in town.

“Garth Brooks is a phenomenon and there is clearly a huge appetite for his music out there. No one has ever done what he has done before by selling out Croke Park five times over. At the end of the day, this has to be good for country music and it is clearly seen as being very cool right now here in Ireland.

“We organised shows in Lisdoonvarna back in September and we were delighted with the response. The place has a unique appeal and people have a great fondness for it. Jason Hughes and his band put on an amazing tribute show to Garth Brooks. They feature all his big hit songs and nothing is left to chance,” says James.

Adding plenty of variety to the celebrations is the addition of some other well-known names, which guarantees plenty of music, song and dance throughout the Easter weekend.

“Local man PJ Murrihy is joining us over the weekend and we will also have TR Dallas, Teddy and Cathal Barry, The Legends and some line dancers.

“There will be social dancing on the Saturday and Sunday afternoons as well as jiving competitions and much more. This should be a great weekend in Lisdoonvarna and we look forward to welcoming revelers from all around the country.”
