Nathan Carter – 27 September: Often credited as the man who made country music cool again, Nathan Carter will play the INEC Killarney this Friday night, 27 September. The Liverpudlian first became a household name in Ireland with his version of Wagon Wheel and has since gone on to become bigger and bigger. Halcyon Days – 2 October: Starring Bryan Murray and Una Crawford (both Fair City), Halcyon Days comes to the Hawks Well Theatre in Sligo on Wednesday 2 October. The plot follows Patricia, who has a zest for life and men when she is thrust together with Sean who is languishing in a nursing home. They form a funny and spiky relationship, but is friendship the most important thing? Halcyon Days is written by Deirdre Kinahan, one of Ireland’s leading playwrights, who has had recent hits such as Rathmines Road, The Unmanageable Sisters and the internationally renowned Moment. An Triail – 30 September and 1 October: Fíbín presents its highly acclaimed version of the modern Irish classic, An Triail by Máiréad Ní Ghráda, as you have never seen it before. This famous play as Gaeilge is a staple on the Leaving Cert course, and An Triail has long since given young people (and those not so young) an insight into the tribulations of an Irish unmarried mother in years gone by. Nikka Zaildar 3 tells the tale of a landlord family residing in village of Punjab. Bhaag Singh, the head of the family, who has three sons, is an extreme miser and does not provide his family with a good life. No one dares say anything against him because of his imposing and dominating personality. Nikka is Bhaag Singh’s grandson and the opposite of his grandfather. Following the death of Bhaag, his spirit inhabits Nikka’s body and so starts the film’s laughter.
