The Fureys: 19 October: This Friday, legends of Irish music and song The Fureys will grace Moat Theatre in Naas, Co Kildare. Their songs stir many emotions, with tears and laughter, sadness and joy, with the likes of ‘When you were sweet 16’, ‘The green fields of France’ and ‘My love is like a red red rose’. Irish Chamber Orchestra: 18 October: The Irish Chamber Orchestra brings ‘Night Music’ to Glor, Ennis. Mozart’s joyful serenade, ‘Eine Kleine Nachtmusik’ is one of his most beautiful and best-loved works, full of memorable melodies. This Clare performance is a celebration of lyricism and ecstatic vigour, by the Irish Chamber Orchestra, adding to the richness inherent in the music, and amplifying the gorgeous, lush sounds. The Scourge: 19-21 October: After world premiere sell out performances and standing ovations last Easter, Wexford Arts Centre are delighted to announce the return of The Scourge this Friday night. Written and performed by Michelle Dooley Mahon and directed by Ben Barnes, The Scourge relives Michelle’s visits to her mother Siobhan in a nursing home after she has been struck down by Alzheimer’s disease. Through her hilarious as well as moving memories we are introduced to personalities, history, and a nostalgic archive of an ordinary Irish family, forced to become extraordinary in their attempt to cope.
