Major Equipment Intl Ltd will use this year’s Ploughing to launch the expansion of its cyclone mower range with the development of 2.8m, 4.2m and 5.6m models. This will bring to seven the number of models in the range. The Major Cyclone bridges the gap between a grass topper and a flail mower.

The MJ30-280 is a 2.8m four-rotor machine and is ideal for farmers needing a mower for everyday topping and for tackling heavier work. All the mowers require a fraction of the power and fuel that a flail mower would consume.

The MJ30-420 and MJ30-560 models have six and eight rotors respectively. The MJ30-420 4.2m model has one folding wing and the MJ30-560 5.6m model has two folding wings, meaning a transport width of 2.5m for both machines. In addition to grass topping, these mowers are designed for use in the toughest of conditions and are ideal for the clearance of stubbles, maize stalks and rapeseed crops.

The Major Cyclone mower is constructed using Strenx 700 MC high-strength steel. This material is stronger than steel traditionally used in machinery manufacturing, without compromising the weight of the machine.

The undersole discs are produced from Hardox 450, a wear and abrasion resistant steel.

The patented blender blade system on the Major Cyclone mower double-chops the cut material. An optional side shift unit is available which allows the operator to adjust the mower 30cm to the left and right.
