Mallow to host North Cork Festival

It is now full steam ahead for the first North Cork Country Music Festival, which will be staged in Mallow GAA Sports Complex on 20 August. This summer sees Cork embrace the country music fervour that has taken hold in recent years. The show will feature Nathan Carter, Declan Nerney, Louise Morrissey, Jimmy Buckley and Lisa McHugh and organisers are hoping that they have a winning combination for their big day. The Jonathan Owens Band will provide the music for all the acts and the event will run from 1pm until 7pm. Tickets for the North Cork Music Festival are now on sale from several outlets in the region. Check out Facebook for full details.

You are right there, Michael

It’s country all the way for Derry singer Michael Mawhinney. He has just released his second album, Time Will Prove That I Am Right. The collection features a nice blend of standards and lesser-known country songs, which Michael has carefully chosen for the album. Among those included are Mary Ann Regrets, Old Love Never Dies, My Old Home In Mayo, How Great Thou Art, My Mother, In My Father’s House and If I Ever Fall in Love with a Honky Tonk Girl. Michael has several guest spot appearances lined up for the summer months. Enquiries can be directed to 048-79650060.
