A man has died following a farmyard accident in Co Cork on Wednesday.

“Gardaí in Middleton are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the death of a 60-year-old man following a farmyard accident at Whitegate, Co Cork, on 22 January 2020,” a Garda spokesperson said.

The local coroner was notified and the services of the State pathologist and HSA have been requested

The alarm was raised shortly after 4pm after the man was discovered by co-workers with serious injuries at the farm in Ardnabourkey. He was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

“The local coroner was notified and the services of the State pathologist and HSA have been requested. The scene is currently preserved pending the arrival of the State pathologist and for a full technical examination,” gardaí said. Enquiries are ongoing.

A spokesperson for the Health and Safety Authority said it was notified of the incident on Wednesday evening and a preliminary investigation is being carried out on Thursday 23 January by inspectors.
