The number of farmers who submitted eligible applications for Basic Payment Scheme in 2016 was 124,593, the Department of Agriculture said. Cork had the highest number of applications at 12,887, followed by Galway at 11,883 and Mayo at 11,410. Counties Dublin, Louth and Carlow had the fewest.
