All of the main dairy processors have increased their base milk prices for March.

Dairygold leads the way offering 45.02c/l, excluding VAT, based on standard constituents of 3.3% protein and 3.6% fat. Dairygold’s March price represents a 3.5c/l increase on that paid for February milk.

Lakeland Dairies has increased its milk price by 3.4c/l from that paid for February milk, paying 44.6c/l, excluding VAT, for March supplies. Glanbia is also offering the 44.6c/l mark for March milk, an increase of almost 2c/l on February supplies.

Meanwhile, on Friday, Kerry Group announced its base price for March milk supplies at 44.07c/l. Aurivo set a base milk price of 45.46c/l, excluding VAT, on Wednesday.

Market returns

The Global Dairy Trade (GDT) price index was down by 3.6% on Tuesday equating to an average price of €4,472/t.

This is the third auction in a row to experience a price drop. The GDT dropped by 1% and 0.9% in early and late March, respectively.
