Tuesday’s sale was a little better than the previous week, with more signs of farmers buying stock. Angus and Hereford cattle that were struggling to hit €2.00/kg in recent weeks were hitting it a lot easier this week. There are more farmers at the mart this week who have killed cattle and are out to restock. Friesian bullocks are a little better also, with the majority of 350kg to 400kg steers making from €500 to €700, depending on weight and quality. Light heifers continue to be a difficult trade, with light types from 200kg to 250kg struggling to hit twice the weight, especially if the quality is poor.
