The poor weather has caused problems for farmers, with wet ground and slow grass growth in parts of the country.

However, it looks like conditions will pick up towards the end of this week according to Met Éireann.

Monday will be dry and cloudy with occasional showers and temperatures from 12C to 16C during the day, falling to 3C to 6C at overnight. Tuesday will see the beginning of sunnier weather, with temperatures ranging from 14C to 17C.

Temperatures will rise to 21C in the west of the country on Wednesday and Thursday, while those in the east can expect cooler conditions of 16C or 17C degrees.

There will be a risk of heavy showers and thunder on Friday across the country due to high pressure. Temperatures will remain around 20C during the weekend.
