Lamb prices paid in the factories have fallen by 5c/kg on average. Most farmers are being paid €4.50/kg to €4.55/kg including bonuses for lambs, with €4.60/kg much harder to come by.

The mart trade has also become more difficult, with factory-fit lambs weighing 46kg to 50kg selling from €91 to €101/head. Mart managers report reduced factory agent activity over the past week. Store lamb prices are being boosted by the recent BPS payments and milder weather, encouraging some farmers to invest. Lowland stores are making €2/kg to €2.20/kg, with Scotch hill stores selling for €1.60/kg to €1.70/kg.
