I farm: “Fifty sheep and milk 50 cows on around 100ac. We have 15ac leased and 100ac of our own.”

Family: “It’s just me and my father Patrick and mother Eileen at home. My brother Eamonn helps out too. I took over the farm from my father about a year and a half ago.”

Cows: “We keep all British Friesians with a few Jerseys thrown in. We also have an Angus bull. This year coming we’re starting AI. We’ll dry off the cows around 25 November and start calving the last few days of January.”

Sheep: “We keep Blackfaces and Cheviots. We lamb around 20 every January indoors. They’re very strong before they go out. They graze the land away from the house and a bit of a hill.”

Future plans: “When I took over there was only 44 cows being milked, I hope come next year I’ll be milking 60 cows. I think I’ll be quite happy with that. We’ve also started tours on the farm. It’s an extra income without leaving the farm.”

Underdogs and football: “I applied for the Underdogs after I saw it on Facebook. It’s something different. I’m the Annascaul captain and captain of the west Kerry district team. Underdogs started at the start of May and it will finish on 26 October with a game against Mayo. Hopefully I might get another trial with Kerry out of it. ”

Guinness World Records: “I have four at the moment, with one pending. I hold a world record for the farmers carry. I carried two 50lbs weights for 23 hours and 21 mins walking 50km and 25 yards with them. It’s the hardest thing I’ve even done, the skin didn’t come back properly for six weeks on my hands.”

Tea and beastings: “I drink 17 cups of tea a day. After training the best protein is inside the bulk tank. I drank a small glass of beastings after training before and it’s horrific. I’ve had it a few times and I was convinced that I felt unbelievable the next day. It was so hard to stomach.”
