A status yellow snow-ice warning is in place nationwide from Saturday 12pm until Monday 9am.

Met Éireann has forecast for it to be very cold this weekend, with wind chill and icy patches. Snow showers are also forecast, but some areas will stay dry, especially the northwest.

Meanwhile, a status orange snow-ice warning has been issued for counties Dublin, Kildare, Louth, Wexford, Wicklow, Meath and Waterford.

The warning comes into effect on Sunday at 3am and is in place until 12pm that day. Scattered heavy snow showers are forecast to lead to accumulations in places and some drifting is expected.
