New Focus on the way

Ford has a new Focus on the way and it’s expected in Ireland at the end of 2014. It marks the European debut of SYNC 2, Ford’s advanced in-car connectivity system that features a high-resolution 8in colour touch-screen and advanced voice control, for easier access to audio, navigation, climate control, etc. The diesel model offers a 19% reduction in fuel consumption and the petrol model 17%. Kia upgrades Optima

The upgraded Kia Optima, with new headlights, fog lamps, rear lights, bumpers, wheels and boot lid, is now available in Ireland. It includes a sports pack, which comes with a black mesh front grille, a chrome trim around the lower air intake, unique 18-inch double-spoke alloy wheels and a matte black diffuser beneath the rear bumper. The car is available for €30,950 in the Republic of Ireland.

New efficient Aygo

The new Toyota Aygo will be available this summer, powered by a three-cylinder petrol engine that is claimed to be 30% more fuel efficient than the previous model. The new engine runs at a higher 11.5:1 compression ratio. More efficient combustion is achieved with help from a new intake port and piston profile. Combined cycle fuel consumption is 24.4km/litre (68.8mpg), with CO2 emissions of 95g/km.

Volvo offers Drive-E

From this month, all new Volvo models will have the option to be built with engines from the new Drive-E powertrain family. This new system lowers CO2 emissions to 99g/km (74.3mpg) with claims of no compromise to power and efficiency. The new V40 D4 will also be available to order with Volvo’s new eight-speed Geartronic automatic gearbox and updated on-board navigation system.
