Massey Ferguson is set to extend its hay and forage equipment lineup with the addition of new front-mounted mowers and wider-mounted and trailed tedders. These new machines will be revealed at Agritechnica in Germany next month.

Massey Ferguson’s new front-mounted mowers are equipped with advanced six or seven disc cutter-beds. These beds have quick-fit blades. The mowers are mounted using a pendulum system that incorporates the existing TurboLift suspension. The pendulum allows the mower to move +/- 13° side-to-side. An optional hydraulic side-shift facility provides up to 20cm of movement to steer around obstacles. The mower design pulls the machine through the crop.

The mowers are mounted directly to the front linkage, without an A frame. The linkages are connected to a centre pivot, which provides ‘three dimensional’ suspension.

The firm now has six models, offering working widths of 3.12m with six discs or 3.62m with seven discs. They come with or without a roller or tine rotor conditioner.

Tedders

Massey Ferguson is also extending its tedder range, inspired by the popular Lely Lotus design. The Massey Ferguson tedders feature the hooked, long and short tine tedding action. The firm says that optimum speed is achieved at 400rpm-450rpm on the PTO.

With a working width of 10.7m, the MF TD 1110 DN is the new flagship mounted tedder. This 10-rotor tedder is equipped with six tines on each rotor. It’s based on the current design, which previously offered up to 8.6m working widths. This new model comes equipped with a new patented swing brake, enhanced hydraulic edge spreading system and stronger headstock.
