A brand new Ifor Williams trailer was stolen from a farmyard in Milford, Co Armagh, during the early hours of Friday morning.

Julie McCarragher told the Irish Farmers Journal that the trailer had only been purchased last month for £6,500.

“We woke up this morning and found a concrete block on our driveway. Next thing we noticed the trailer, which was parked between our house and sheep shed, was gone,” McCarragher said.

“The thieves were spotted going through Middletown at 3.50am this morning heading into Co Monaghan. The trailer was being drawn by a blue Transit van.”

The trailer has two decks for transporting sheep.

Both the PSNI and An Garda Síochána have been notified of the theft and a cross-border search for the trailer is under way.

“The trailer was locked and was parked beside the house, so we assumed it would be safe.

"We live on the main road though, so the thieves must have spotted it while passing one day,” McCarragher said.
