A new renewable bio-based carton has been announced by Aurivo for Connacht Gold. The move is part of its aim to become more environmentally friendly and reach sustainability targets.

“The introduction of the Tetra Pak bio-based carton allows us to offer our consumers a carton that has a low environmental and climate change impact and can be traced back to its plant-based source,” said Aurivo CEO Aaron Forde.

Fully renewable

The Tetra Pak-designed carton is the first fully renewable carton to arrive on the market. It was manufactured from a combination of plastics derived from sugar cane and paper board.

Aurivo has implemented a number of sustainability measures across the business, including a €6m investment in its consumer foods business that allows the Killygordon milk plant in Donegal to significantly reduce on-site fossil fuel consumption by 80%.
