New Knockhouse stallions

Derby and Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe hero Worforce, who has spent the past five years at Shadai Stallion Station in Japan, is coming to Ireland and will stand at Knockhouse Stud in Kilmacow, County Kilkenny.

The Juddmonte-bred bay is a son of King’s Best and his fee is €5,000.

September Storm is another addition to the Knockhouse roster. He is a son of Monsun, sire of three recent Melbourne Cup winners.

They join Libertarian, Notnowcato and Prince Flori at Sean Kinsella’s County Kilkenny stud.

ISH Studbook Series

Applications are now being sought from venues to run legs of the 2017 Irish Sport Horse Studbook Showjumping Series. The series will run between April and October and the closing date for applications is Tuesday, 31 January, at 12 noon, at Horse Sport Ireland’s offices, Beech House, Millennium Park, Oberstown, Naas, County Kildare.

Mullingar league

Mullingar Equestrian Centre has teamed up with event rider Joseph Murphy and Berney’s Saddlery to offer a new Event Jump Cross Show Jumping League every Friday, starting at 6pm, from now until 24 February. Mullingar EC and Maryville Stables in Cork are the venues for two leagues.

All are welcome.

Munster Eventing

The Munster Eventing Combined Training League starts on Sunday 5 February at Maryville Stables, Carrigaline, County Cork. The league can accommodate riders from 80cms right up to three-star level. Visit www.eventingireland.com for more information.
